From the moment I set eyes on this ring I knew it reminded me of Crux, a constellation that most of us know by the name of the Southern Cross.
Perhaps it’s those four sparkly diamonds dotted around that gorgeous Opalite that sit exactly like its four brightest stars.
One of the smallest constellations of the night sky but also one of the brightest.
It has been known and studied for centuries.
The Ancient Greeks knew about it, Dante wrote of it in his Divine Comedy, navigators such as Amerigo Vespucci plotted it on their star charts while sailing unknown seas and the ancient civilisations of the Southern Hemispheres were enchanted by it.
I was enchanted by it too when I saw it for the first time, I remember thinking it was so magical that south of the equator I had the opportunity to look up and see a completely different night sky to the one I was used to seeing each night.
When I imagined this ring I had this exact idea in mind, that you could look at it and be transported to the night sky, dreaming of new worlds and places undiscovered, to unknown stars and uncharted seas.

The centre opalite stone of this ring is so magical, it changes colour depending on the light from blue to pink to green, and the four glass paste diamonds add that twinkle that catches the light beautifully.
The ring itself is gold fill and a one of a kind, a rare piece that was converted from an antique Victorian stick pin.
